Join us on Saturday, September 30th for a day filled with adventure, laughter, food & wine! We are changing things up this year with our new Grape Stomping Harvest Extravaganza on Saturday, September 30th, 2017. We wanted to get back to the soul of our harvest, which is grapes and to focus on the end product of the harvest which is wine, while filling the day with joyful celebration! At the same time making it affordable so you could fill your car with your family, friends & neighbors for a day so fun you will be talking about it all year! There are 3 ticket option Morning Session only- 9:30am-2:30pm Evening Session only 5:15pm-10pm All Day Session- the one we recommend for maximum fun! 9:30am-10pm Morning Only & All-day Sessions: 9:30-10am guests start arriving, check-in, pruners and buckets are distributed 10am Let’s get this party started! We will venture into the vineyards where we will harvest grapes by hand for the grape stomping competition. You will learn correct harvesting techniques as well as have the chance to gather wine samples with Winemaker Freddy Arredondo and use a refractor to learn to read the sugar content of the grapes and the how and why we pick the grapes when we do. There is nothing quite like spending time in the vineyards, harvesting beautiful grapes. This will be a good for the soul type of morning. 11:30am Harvest team heads in from the fields for a picnic style lunch with Winemaker Freddy and Cave B Estate Winery owners Vince & Carol Bryan 11:45am -12:30pm Picnic Lunch Buffet & Wine 12:30-2:30pm Breakout into 2 groups for some fun! Group 1: Guided walk to Inspiration Point (easy flat walk) After taking in this breathtaking view, learn about the geology of the area- the Missoula Floods and how this affects the soil for the vineyards…. Learn what the Cave B name stands for and how the natural beauty of the area inspired the Cave B founders to create a place that could inspire others. Bring your cameras as this view is stunning! Group 2: Punchdown like a real winemaker, tank & barrel tasting with Winemaker Freddy Arredondo Winemaker Freddy will explain what happens in the production facility during harvest and what a punchdown is and and why do we do it. After showing you the proper technique you will have a chance to try your hand doing the mornings punchdowns. Beware don't fall in! Then you will have the opportunity to try wine out of the tanks and then walk a short distance to the barrel cave to try some red wines straight out of the barrel. A not to be missed activity! *The two groups will then switch with Group 1 doing punchdowns and group 2 walking to Inspiration point You will finish the morning session in the tasting room Cave with a "thank you" wine toast for spending your morning with us bringing in the harvest and learning what makes Cave B unique.
